Here is a short video about going to Pita Pit.
Pita Pit is a Canadian restaurant franchise serving pita sandwiches with fresh vegetables, grilled meat and various sauces. Headquarters for Canadian and international operations are in Kingston, Ontario. (Headquarters for the United States are in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho).

Nelson Lang and John Sotiriadis opened the first Pita Pit in 1995 near Queen's University in Kingston. As per their website:
"When Pita Pit began back in 1995, Braveheart was Best Picture, Seinfeld was all the rage, the Worldwide Web was just taking off and the DVD was new—and a major innovation.
So was the idea that drove Nelson Lang and John Sotiriadis to open their first Pita Pit in Kingston, Ontario."

Geared towards students, the founders hoped their entrepreneurial pursuit would be "recession-proof."
Obviously it was a success - as Pita Pit is still going strong. When it first opened, the idea was that the fast-food restaurant would stay open late- with university students in mind as the main customer. The idea was: here is a restaurant open late that would offer healthy, fresh food. And it worked!
Within one year, Pita Pit expanded in Canada. By 1999, there were Pita Pits in the USA too.
Guess where the first Pita Pita opened outside of North America?
It was in Auckland, New Zealand. The year was 2007 and this business was set up by Chris Henderson, a New Zealander returning from Canada, and Duane Dalton, husband of netballer Tania Dalton.
Expansion of Pita Pit continued. By 2011, Pita Pit counted 350 restaurants in Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Panama, South Korea and Brazil.

Today, over 500 locations serve food in India, France, Brazil, Panama, Trinidad and Tobago, the United Kingdom, New Zealand, Australia, Singapore, United Arab Emirates, Ireland and Sweden.

On September 1st 2021, Quebec restaurant franchiser Foodtastic acquired Pita Pit.
