Sherman M4A2 Berry-au-Bac - Rainy Walkaround - Arromanches.

Production of the M4A2 tank began in June 1942 it would have had a welded hull and one piece cast nose, with a 75mm cannon.
And was manufactured by Fisher Tank Arsenal It would have had a GM 6046 twin diesel engine.

This version was produced with all the improvements the other types got, like the large hatch hull.

M4A2 was mostly supplied to other Allied countries under Lend-Lease.

The M4A2 would see limited combat in the US Army
and the French and British, would use them the most
and then the Russians and USMC in the Pacific.

The M4A2 would perform fairly welland would see service
after the war and would see many upgrades
Like the HVSS E8 tracks and, the 76mm M1 gun.

This Sherman is located on top of a Wn 43 bunker. on June 1944 this bunker was fitted with a 10.5cm gun, and until 1995 a Pak 40 could be seen in this bunker, until it was closed up.

This M4A2 Sherman is not the original Berry-au-Bac and has Serial Number 8887, and was built by Fisher in January, 1943.
It was used as a range wreck in the 60's, it was restored in the 70's and placed here as a monument.
