7 Muscle Building Diet MISTAKES (KILLING YOUR GAINS!!). In today's video, Tanner Wideman of BarbarianBody will be covering the top 7 muscle building diet mistakes that most guys are making (which are killing your gains).
Mistakes #1: Insufficient Caloric Intake - Obviously this is going to be the leading problem with any "muscle building diet". If you're not in a calorie surplus, you're not going to put on weight. Think you're "eating enough", but still can't build muscle? You're not. Consume more calories!
Mistake #2: Insufficient Protein - In addition to a calorie surplus, you also MUST have a sufficient intake of protein. Without this, your caloric surplus will mainly used for fat gain. Consume 1G of protein/ 1LB of BW.
Mistake #3: Lack of Preparation - If you want to hit your calorie surplus, as well as your protein requirements, it's important that you prepare. A lack of preparation is the biggest hindrance in a muscle building diet.
Mistake #4: Ignoring Healthy Fats - Having a tough time consuming your required calories. Consume more healthy fats in your diet for more than 2x the calories of Carbs and Proteins.
Mistake #5: Intermittent Fasting - Most guys have a tough time building muscle with a calorie surplus in a typical 16 hour day. Think you can manage to consume your caloric surplus and required protein in a small 4-6 hour window? It's not wise.\
Mistake #6: Not Eating Frequently Enough - It's more challenging to consume 3 large 1000 calorie meals in a day, than it is to consistently snack on smaller 500 calorie portions through out the day. Ditch the large, daunting meals, in favor of the smaller, more manageable meals for the same caloric intake.
Mistake #7: Lack of Ownership + Required Effort - In the end, this is all your responsibility. If you're not willing to accept that and make the required effort and changes necessary (in favor of blaming genetics or outside circumstances), then you're doomed to forever be skinny.
Bonus Mistake #8: Too Many Calories! - If you're not a "hardgainer" and are noticing more fat gain than you'd like while building muscle, the solution is simple;. you're in too high of a calorie surplus. Ditch the "Mega Bulk" in favor of a Lean Bulk and prolong that period to make as many Lean Gains as possible.
