UNEDITED NOTES:
VERSES 1-5 “Then Pilate therefore took Jesus, and scourged him.
And the soldiers plaited a crown of thorns, and put it on his head, and they put on him a purple robe,
And said, Hail, King of the Jews! and they smote him with their hands.
Pilate therefore went forth again, and saith unto them, Behold, I bring him forth to you, that ye may know that I find no fault in him.
Then came Jesus forth, wearing the crown of thorns, and the purple robe. And Pilate saith unto them, Behold the man!”

What a great contrast between the First Adam, the one set forth before Angels/angels in splendor and might over the newly re-created Earth; and the Second Adam… forcefully dressed with kingly cover, mocked and set forth by the serpent an meant as and affront to God “Behold the man”…(seemingly) a pretensions religious man, shamelessly powerless, my purchased slave, broken and beaten, unworthy to rule.

When we observe the Jewish religious leaders vicious unwarranted hate of Jesus and the miscarriage of justice by the authorities of Rome, how well all men, who are seekers of truth, should gauge the depth of wickedness of the nature of satan that permeates all mans souls as a consequence of being born of Adam, that in being born again into Jesus we are found not to be free of, but rather are called by Jesus to daily crucify.
The Law of Moses is seen to have had but little effect to control this abiding nature within the soul of these religious Jews.

TWO QUESTIONS
The first ‘question’ will come to everyone lost in the World of satan…”Behold the man” ‘What do you think of Him?’ or “Who do you say that I am?” This first question comes as it relates to His being Savior…for Justification for redemption before God …”was He a mere man? Or was He Crucified that you might be redeemed’?
The Second question comes to all redeemed as to His right of Kingship…. “will you have this Man as King over you?” our response is critical to our everlasting existence.

VERSE 11 “Jesus answered, thou couldest have no power at all against me, except it were given thee form above” therefore he that delivered Me unto thee, hath the greater sin.”
TO whom does Jesus refer to when He says “he, therefore, that delivered Me unto thee, hath the greater sin (than you).”…Judas? The religious leaders of Israel; Caiaphas and Annas in particuar?

Jesus here sets forth the Truth of different levels of assigned guilt for sin, as He had in different places taught (lk12:48;17:2;2pet2:21).
Pontus Pilate knowing Jesus was innocent tried to free Him, but yet he reluctantly condemned Him and therefore was guilty of injustice against the innocent, that all men in authority, throughout time, will account for at the Judgment Seat. To which Jesus here alludes. (Here THE future Judge, reveals the grounds on which judgment shall fall upon him as Judge.)
The Truth discovered is that greater is the sin, that is against ‘light’ than sin against ignorance.
And certainly the Sanhedrin and in particular the High Priest knew God’s Law condemned most emphatically their wicked actions, and therefore would stand more guilty than the unenlightened Gentile heathen Pontus Pilate.
And here we might ask who had the greater ‘light’ the Leaders of Israel or Judas? And we suppose that Scripture answers that question explicitly as Judas in Matthew26:24 and Psalm109.
In that as bad as Israel’s Leaders sin was, in the main in favor for Jesus Crucifixion (and their continued rejection of Him after His Resurrection for another 33 years), and even the worse sin for Judas betrayal, who’s fate was sealed at his hanging of himself in the going to his place.
But going far beyond those rejections of ‘light’… ultimately the responsibility for Jesus unjust death was laid at the feet of the over-ruler of this Earth and it Nations, in the heavens of this Earth, the epitome of a rejecter of Light; satan himself.
Who’s condemnation and fate, unanticipated by him, was also sealed in the ill conceived wicked deed, as just worthiness of everlasting confinement in the Lake of Fire.
So it is that responsibility, and accountability answers to authority and ‘light’ in degrees of knowledge of God’s will refused,..so first in the greater sin stood:...Lucifer, followed by Judas, then the High Priests and conspiring Sanhedrin, Israel as a Nation, Pontus Pilate and Rome (psalms75:4-7;dan4:26,32;psalm61:11;58:11roms13:1,2).

(On the other hand, in the same way, the one who knows more and more of God’s will and desires to emulate Him, grows in favor and reward).

Like Pontus Pilate of old, today, as then politicians do not trace their positions higher than what they can see.
(Christians wrongly assume or even taught by ministers that they should ‘vote’ and use their influence to set aright the wrongs of governmental authorities….
