Dialect-intel: Analysing a song, Riptide by Vance Joy

I was played this song on the guitar by a friend and loved it. I went to look at the original and was shocked by the imagery in the video. This is my own personal analysis of very strong messages, it seems. I am interested in your own perspectives. I also included a lovely version by Misterwives.
