025: Are Senior Citizens REALLY to Blame for Proposed Tax Hike?

Despite the fact that M-C's $0.15 tax rate applies to ALL TAXPAYERS, including senior citizens, Mayor Keith Short is falsely stating that the Senior Tax Cap is keeping the city from fulfilling the Council's big-government vision.  It's the foundation of his case for the proposed tax-rate increase to $0.165, to make up for what seniors are not contributing, even though they currently contribute NO LESS than every other taxpayer!
On today's show I'll show you the the Mayor's comments AND official statement that's now posted on the City website (https://mclendon-chisholm.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Mayor-Budget-Statement-.pdf) and how  neither he, nor any council member is addressing the disparity between what M-C taxpayers are paying for fire safety, which is now more than 95% of the cost, the contribution from the County from a county-wide sales tax, which makes up around 5%, and those who live outside the city limits, which makes up more than 2/3 of the total fire district where more than half of all fire emergency calls go but where absolutely no funding is coming!
