Garden update 9 03 2019 The End is Near!

Hello, this is Lori Fiechter with my last real garden update for the 2019 growing season! It has been a wonderful garden season for us, in spite of the wet spring. We had bountiful harvest of tomatoes, peppers, and green beans, in particular. True, we had no peaches this year, but we are hoping for a less cold and cruel Indiana winter in 2020!

All that is left to harvest is elderberries, sweet potatoes, and apples. Of course, there are still some tomatoes and peppers and ground cherries to pick along the way (or to ignore...) I still need to save some flower pods when they dry off. But the main work is done, and the cupboards and freezers are loaded with jars of produce. Gracias a Dios!

Thank you for joining me this summer for my updates! I still have plenty to do in the weeks and months to come in "My Indiana Kitchen"! And then it will be time to buy seeds and start all over again next spring.
