Live from Tehran as final supermoon of the year illuminates night sky

Live feed from Tehran as the last supermoon of the year, August's full moon, is expected to brighten up the skies.

It's traditionally called the Sturgeon Moon, after the fish most readily caught in North America’s Great Lakes and Lake Champlain during this part of the summer.

Supermoons occur when the moon is within 90 per cent of the perigee; the point in its orbit where the moon is closest to Earth. This phenomenon causes the moon to appear bigger and brighter than usual.

Please note that the visibility of the moon will depend on meteorological conditions. Transmission may be cancelled in case of poor weather.​
