I Can’t Believe This Happened in the GARDEN!

Homesteading can be a mixed bag – for every high there’s an equal low and the results of your endeavors are rarely exactly how you envisioned them. We aren’t gardeners, but that hasn’t stopped us from trying (AKA failing, learning, and trying again) and we might just have ourselves a breakthrough. Come along and do morning farm chores with our family.

We enjoy homesteading but it’s not easy. That’s part of why we enjoy it – I find there’s a great value in working and making and doing so at the end of the day you can look back on your efforts and feel like you’ve made a difference. Learning about gardening, animal husbandry, or how to fix things when they break allows us to get outside of our comfort zone and grow. With that comes moments of failure but it is important to not get too down on yourself and push through that adversity.

In this video we “fix” a spot where our goats have been getting out of the fence. Eventually we’ll properly repair that part of the pasture fence with new H-braces, fencing, and hanging that gate like it is supposed to be hung, but for the time we had today it was the best we could do. We also tour the garden which is doing MUCH better than it was even a few short weeks ago. I was pretty down on what we had done but we hadn’t given up just yet, and that tenacity (if I do say so myself) turned into a handful of okra, bell peppers, and ripening tomatoes. We even have a lone cucumber making an appearance.

We aren’t gardeners and it has been a struggle but I’m thankful to see some fruits (veggies) of our labors. Much of the same can be said about our YouTube endeavors, so thanks for watching this video!
