New York State Police have issued a statement in regard to the attack on author Salman Rushdie. "On August 12...at about 11 am, a male suspect ran up onto the stage and attacked Rushdie," the statement read. "Rushdie suffered an apparent stab wound to the neck, and was transported by helicopter to...[a]...hospital. His condition is not yet known," it added.
