On Friday June 17, 2022, at approximately 9:20PM, I Trooper Walker Morphis, observed Highway Police Officer TyQuan People attempting to stop a silver Ford Escape.
I pulled off of Duvall Street towards the vehicle, and then quickly realized the vehicle was not stopping and nearly went head on with me. The vehicle continued past me and I backed up to get out of the way for Officer People. I turned around and followed Officer People at normal speeds, advising dispatch of what was going on. This vehicle took Jackson Street all the way to North Lakeshore, before turning onto Washington Street. Being familiar with the area, I knew Washington Street was a dead end street. In an attempt to assist Officer People in what I believed at the time would be the end of this pursuit, I activated my emergency lights and sirens and proceeded to travel down Washington Street. Once at the end of Washington Street, I realized that this vehicle and Officer People had cut through yards and in between houses. I radioed Officer People to find out where he was, and he advised he had lost sight of the vehicle and was attempting to locate.
The vehicle was later found and recovered by Lake Village Police Department and the Arkansas Highway Police. It was towed by Wayne Edwards Wrecker Service at the request of the Highway Police for further investigation.
