The deputy director of the Donetsk Traumatology Center spoke. "After shelling of residential areas, wounded civilians arrive here every day. All the injuries are terrifying because this mine is aimed at not killing a person but mutilating them. At the moment of contact with this object traumatic detachment of the foot happens. And the statistics are very gruesome: out of 12 injured, 6 people had to undergo amputation. And to be honest, I don't understand the reason they're doing it. To threaten the civilian population? From a military viewpoint these mines are very dangerous, but they're being used against civilians. Why it is being done, I have no idea. There is no common sense here. Why strew residential areas with butterfly mines, where there are no military objects at all?"
