Proverbs on Conflicts
• Conflicts often occur because we fail to listen to God and reject His counsel (Proverbs 1:28-33; 2:1-6).
• We are called to trust the Lord’s instructions and disciplines. The benefits of trusting and following God are more precious than any earthly gain and will lead to peace and true life. Hold fast to God, and you will be blessed (Proverbs 3:11-18).
• We must be careful not to have unnecessary conflicts and avoid those that provoke them (Proverbs 3:29-30; 4:20-27).
• A person who causes strife and stirs up trouble among God’s people is destined for God-ordained disaster and destruction (Proverbs 6:12-19).
• The person who wants to be wise must examine their hearts in order to properly respond to rebuke, instruction, and correction (Proverbs 9:7-10; 10:8; 10:17; 11:2; 12:1; 12:15-16; 13:13-14; 13:19-20).
• We must be careful of how we speak. Your words are a mirror of your heart. And our words reveal your tendency to hurt or heal or to bring the greatest harm (death) or the greatest good (life) (Proverbs 15:28; 11:9, 11; 12:18; 14:25; 15:4; 16:24, 28; 18:21)
