In this video we decided to go on exploration to scout out some new fishing spots on the Red Cedar River. The lansing river trail is expansive. It runs along the Grand River starting at Deitrick Park west of Old Town Lansing and runs through Old Town and North Lansing before the Grand River Meets The Red Cedar River in Red Town then splits and you can continue up the Grand River until you get to Moors Park or go the other way and follow the Red Cedar River from Red Town Lansing to East Lansing near MSU Campus. In 2 days we covered the whole stretch of the Red Cedar River from the mouth to East Lansing. We just fished the easy to access areas that we passed along the way. We caught plenty of Rock Bass, Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike. We fished with worms from Grand River Bait and Tackle, Mepps Spinners, Panther Martin Spinners, Z Man TRD Tubez, A & S Lures, and some other oddball stuff. As a Lansing resident with no boat and not a lot of free time I focus most of my fishing efforts on hammering The Red Cedar River and The Grand River in the Lansing area. Lansing fishing is highly under rated and hosts a slew of different fish species but has excellent fishing for Bass, Pike, Walleye, Carp, Suckers, Dogfish, Crappie, Bluegill, Gar, Catfish and more with seasonal runs of Salmon and Steelhead.
