Citrus crisis: South African orange exporters outraged by new import rules

The latest EU regulations on imports resulted in containers of fruit from South Africa being held up on arrival there. The South African Citrus Growers' Association reports that around 37% of all citrus exports go to the EU but, with the new rules, about 3.2 million cartons of citrus –worth over $36 million– have apparently left port with paperwork that now may not be accepted upon arrival.
