Using Far Infrared Sauna to Relax the Parasympathetic Nervous System
Jill is “super excited to be sitting in a Relax Sauna. I actually own two of these, one at home and one in my office for my patients. My favorite thing, personally, about the Relax Sauna is how quick it heats up, how comfortable it is. I like that I can unzip these two zippers and pull my hands and read a book or, to be honest, sometimes watch TV. I love that it heats up super quick. But, the best benefit that I see with this is just really the parasympathetic reaction I get. It relaxes me after a super-long day. I have four children. I have a full-time practice so to get in this before I get into bed is absolutely ritual for me. It’s something that I do every single night. I also love the detox factor of it. I feel like I get a good sweat. I feel like it just really sets my body up to get a great night’s sleep” She likes that she’s able to make these available so that her patients can have them in their own homes.
“I’ve tried so many methods to really calm down, decrease that cortisol response and get that parasympathetic, that calm relaxed sensation in my body. It’s really difficult for me to turn my Type A, OCD brain off at night to really get a good truly good night's sleep. I get in and have a physiological response.” By the end of it, she feels her shoulders relax and “my feet are resting, my arms are palms up on top my knees. The cadence of my breathing has slowed down so much more. I feel so good. I feel a positive change in my energy, it changes my whole physical state. Now, my kids like to jump in, my husband will get in.”
“I also have a longevity ozone sauna, which is a newer investment I’ve had. My Relax Sauna I’ve had for about two years now. It’s such a durable sauna” and she sends her second one home with her patients when they need it. Her daughter feels it changes her state when she gets in. She finds that when her eight-year-old son sits in the sauna with his HeadSpace app, he acts out less and loses his temper less frequently. He’s able to realize he can control his body and his thoughts as he feels more comfortable and more calm.
She has aches and pains on occasion, especially after a workout, and finds that, even if she gets in the sauna for only 10 minutes, it breaks up that lactic acid, loosens the muscles and and she gets a really good sweat, too. She also finds that when she celebrates on occasion with three or four drinks, she has less of a hangover if she uses the sauna afterwards.
Phil mentions that some people also use ozone with the Relax Sauna. “The Relax Sauna has absolutely changed, not only my life but the lives of my patients and the life of my family because it’s made me a better version of myself and it’s helped them as well, feel better, feel stronger, be in charge of their health and more relaxed.”
She originally bought her sauna because “I was looking for solutions. I didn’t necessarily want a pill in a bottle. I didn’t necessarily want the quick fix. I’m in this for the long haul. I want to do everything right a little bit every day. I, also, wanted something that just made me feel good immediately.” She wanted the long-term benefits but also wanted to feel better in the short term. Sometimes she just jumps in with her clothes on for 5 or 10 minutes to feel better and then goes about her day without having to bother taking a shower afterwards. “So, it’s really realistic for me to be able to utilize throughout the day.”
Compared to other saunas, she says she feels “the intensity of the heat is so much better in the Relax Sauna.” She belongs to a very nice gym but their “sauna doesn’t have the heat, the quickness of the heat and the relaxation that you get with this kind of personal sauna set-up.” When she gets out of the Relax Sauna she says, “I feel relaxed. I feel empowered and I feel almost rejuvenated, ready to tackle anything. “You buy it without really knowing. You don’t know what you don’t know but there was some trust, you know, in the technology. After even the first use I knew, yeah, this is the real deal. I wish I had purchased it sooner. That’s my only regret. I’ve had it for two years. I wish I had it for much longer than that, so I’m super happy.”
