God describes in His book, the Bible, how that after the Confusion at Babel, during the dispensation of the Promises through Abraham, God told him his descendants would be captive and enslaved in another country 400 years, and then be delivered and return to Canaan (Gen 15:13-14). Just so, this is literally what occurred, from the 19th century to the 15th century BC. In the crucible of Egypt, God grew His special nation Israel, through whom would come the Christ, the Saviour of the world (Gen 22:18, 49:10).
