Fires rage in southwestern France amid new heatwave

A gigantic pall of smoke hung over the village of Belin-Beliet in southwestern France on Wednesday (August 10) as fires raged on the outskirts of the settlement, whose buildings were under direct threat from the flames and as the country braces for its fourth heatwave this summer.
