Long Nose Gar Fishing, Gar Fishing With Live Bait, Night Fishing For Gar, How To Catch Long Nose Gar

In this fishing video I am targeting Long Nose Gar at night with live bait. I have never been Long Nose Gar fishing in the past however I have hooked into a few with lures while doing spring steelhead fishing but have yet to land one until now. In this particular case my buddy Jason Marr and I were fishing for salmon at night 2 days prior and a gar stole his spinner then swam right in front of us. I knew at that moment I had to come back with live bait. from my research the trick to Gar fishing with live bait is to let them eat it so it is in their throat as posed to their beak wich is full of the sharpest teeth I've encountered. I sat for hours with a shiner under a bobber night fishing for gar before I got a bite. The first bite was violent and happened so fast my minnow was gone before I could sett the hook. The 2nd bite was subtle and slow and I let the fish take it for a moment before seeing the hook. I didn't know how to catch a gar other than reading and watching fishing videos most of which were about alligator gar. Long Nose Gar seem to have the same general mode of operation as their larger relatives!
