In commemoration of women’s day on August, 9 2022, crossroads residents marched to Nyanga police station in a call for justice for gender based violence on female victims (GBV-F). Community members said there has been a spike in GBV cases with the most recent being the gruesome murder of a 15 year old, whose body was dumped in a wheelie bin and left outside a house in the area. Residents are calling for an arrest in this case and for SAPS and other government departments to take a closer look at the GBV-F dynamics in the impoverished community.
