Athearn GP9 Hi-F rubber band drive rebuild 24 volt motor part 1

This is part 1 of the total Hi-F rubber band drive rebuild. We will rebuild this rubber band drive to a new standard using new technology that wasn't available back the 1950s and 1960s. We ARE keeping the rubber band drive system and going to see what we can do with materials available now to make it work better - in fact make it as good as modern locomotives. Belt drive is an entirely sound concept. We have the technology, we can rebuild it. We will boldly go where no one has gone before.... also a look at a American Flyer Alco Diesel that we're going to restore as well...
