Jesus had just told Martha that He is the resurrection and the life. He allows her to express her faith in Him by asking a simple question. The way He framed the idea by saying "everyone who lives" may seem silly in our language, but the point He was making was that we only have the chance to choose to believe in Him while we are still living our physical life. We cannot pass from this life, recognize that we were wrong, and ask for a do-over. Jesus requires this decision to be made out of faith. After we pass from this life and see what is next is too late. Do you believe that Jesus is the means of eternal life and that those who trust Him will never die?
