Nazi Germany Has Plans To Build The Biggest Tank

Landkruzer P. 1000 Ratte Is The Most Ambitious Tank Ever Invented – During the Second World War, German military thinkers certainly thought big when it came to tanks and produced some of the largest tanks ever to traverse the battlefield. That included the Tiger II, arguably the most powerful tank in the war, while there were also limited/wasted efforts to develop the Panzerkampfwagen VIII Maus, the largest tank ever built.

Landkreuzer P. 1000 Ratte – A True Landship

According to some accounts, the Landkreuzer – which was the brainchild of Krupp director Edward Grotte – was among the designs that were too ambitious to ever build. In many ways, this 1,000-tonne tank was a throwback to the original “landing program” considered by the British military during World War One. However, the British soon saw that a true land ship was not the answer – and that it led to a simpler tank, which was still massive for the era.

Germany didn't seem to get the memo, but again, its own tank program produced the A7V, a vehicle that required a crew of 18, but was occasionally upgraded to 25.
