Star Wars Special - The Friendship of Anakin Skywalker and R2-D2 Explained

Anakin Skywalker and R2-D2 were seen in many scenes together, and we all know that R2 worked with Anakin as he was a jedi during the Clone Wars era. R2-D2 and Anakin viewed each other as friends, and was a much deeper relationship that surface level.

We see how far Anakin would go to save his friend in Star Wars The Clone Wars animated series, when Ahsoka Tano and Anakin go on mission just to save R2, and Anakin even refers to him as his "friend".

Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka disagreed with Anakin's own private mission to rescue "just a droid".

After Order 66, Anakin had complete his turn to the dark side and became Darth Vader. As far as we know, Vader never actually saw R2 again, but the two were in the presence of each other on many occasions in Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back, and even on Endor in The Return of the Jedi.
