Tulsi Gabbard (/ˈtʌlsi ˈɡæbərd/; born April 12, 1981) is an American politician and military combat veteran serving as the U.S. Representative for Hawaii's 2nd congressional district since 2013. A member of the Democratic Party, she became the first Samoan American and the first practicing Hindu[a] member of Congress upon her election. In January 2019, Gabbard became the first female combat veteran to run for U.S. president.[1][2]

HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Presidential candidate and Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard is pushing back against claims made by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that the Russians are currently “grooming” the Hawaii Congresswoman to run as a third-party candidate.

In a tweet on Friday, Gabbard wrote, “Great! Thank you @HillaryClinton. You, the queen of warmongers, embodiment of corruption, and personification of the rot that has sickened the Democratic Party for so long, have finally come out from behind the curtain.”

The tweet continued, “From the day I announced my candidacy, there has been a concerted campaign to destroy my reputation. We wondered who was behind it and why. Now we know — it was always you, through your proxies and powerful allies in the corporate media and war machine, afraid of the threat I pose.”

“It’s now clear that this primary is between you and me. Don’t cowardly hide behind your proxies. Join the race directly.”

Gabbard’s comments are in response to a comment that Clinton recently made on a podcast.
