6th Street Dam Grand River Visual Tour // Grand River Michigan Fishing

I was in the area on business and decided to visit the Legendary 6th Street Dam on the Grand River in Grand Rapids Michigan. If you live in Mid Michigan and like to fish for steelhead then you have heard of 6th Street Dam. 6th street dam is the pinnacle of grand river steelhead fishing. It is the first stop for any fish running up the river including king salmon, coho salmon, Steelhead and brown trout as well as the off lake trout and Atlantic salmon as well as all the other usual river suspects.

It was high water post rain conditions but ill say this seems like a really tough place to fish. The fish ladder was really cool and has a nice viewing window where you can easily see fish moving up the ladder. I may go back again for some steelhead but but prefer to fish off the beaten path generally. Fortunately there were no boat flipping accidents on this day!
