Star Wars News Today | Kenobi VS Vader Twice? | Jon Watts High Replic Show
Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader rumoured to fight twice in Kenobi series:
According LRM Online, Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi will face off twice in the upcoming limited-series. LRM added no additional details, but claimed the fights will be epic and could rank highly in some of the best Star Wars clashes of all time. The report from LRM follows a similar one from StarWarsTime.net back in September where they too claimed Kenobi and Vader could clash more than once in the series.
Darth Vader is rumoured to not appear in the series until the third episode, with the earlier two focusing on the Inquisitors and the capture and imprisonment of a young Leia Organa, giving Obi-Wan Kenobi a lot to deal with before coming face-to-face with his former padawan.
Kathleen Kennedy previously teased that the showdown between Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the Sith lord would be the rematch of the century, and from I’ve heard the final confrontation is one for the history books.
The rumours and leaks surrounding the hotly anticipated limited-series from Lucasfilm are coming thick and fast in recent weeks, and show no signs of stopping on the run up to the series premiere in May.
The upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series see’s the return of Ewan McGregor in the titular role, and Hayden Christensen as arguably the greatest villain of all time, Darth Vader. The series has been written by Joby Harold (Army of the Dead, King Arthur: Legend of the Sword) and will be directed entirely by Deborah Chow (The Mandalorian, Better Call Saul). The six episode series debuts it’s first episode on May 25th, the 45th anniversary of Star Wars: A New Hope.
Spider-Man: No Way Home helmer Jon Watts is rumored to be in talks to direct at least one episode of a new mystery Star Wars series for Disney Plus.
According to a report from Discussing Film, Watts has been invited to sit in the director's chair for at least one episode of the upcoming Star Wars series that is apparently operating under the working title of "Grammar Rodeo." Watts' involvement in the project is said to be dependent on his busy schedule, given that he's also helming Marvel's Fantastic Four.
Jon Favreau is reportedly attached to executive produce following his most recent stint as a writer and executive producer on both The Mandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. It is currently unknown who will be writing this new series but more details are expected to emerge as it nears production, with cameras currently scheduled to start rolling this summer.
Cinelinx first reported on the series, describing it as a "Stranger Things in space" with a story that focuses on a "younger generation of heroes" during the High Republic era. The Acolyte, another upcoming Disney+ Star Wars series, will be set during the final days of this same period, in connection with the publishing initiative launched by Disney and Lucasfilm in 2020.
The Acolyte is currently in pre-production with Russian Doll writer Leslye Headland overseeing the series, and Amandla Stenberg eyed for the lead role. Lucasfilm's Kathleen Kennedy previously teased the story, saying it will "take us into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emergent dark side powers," 200 years before the events of the Star Wars prequels.
Star Wars Rebels' New Collection Is the Essential Prequel to A New Hope
Following the announcement that Dark Horse Comics will return to publishing Star Wars comics, it has been revealed that Star Wars: Rebels will be receiving a trade paperback later this year. The upcoming release will collect comics from Star Wars: Rebels Magazine.
Although Dave Filoni has been famously credited to the success of The Clone Wars and The Mandalorian, he is also responsible for Rebels. The animated series set before A New Hope adds new context to the saga, tying into some events from The Clone Wars. After losing his parents, young Ezra Bridger is pursuing a life as a Jedi Knight and receives training from a surviving Jedi, Kanan Jarrus. Joined by a Twi’lek pilot named Hera Syndulla, an artistic Mandalorian named Sabine Wren, the strong Zeb, and a astromech droid named Chopper, the rebels fight the Empire and promote their cause of liberty.
Dark Horse Comics will be collecting a variety of comics from Star Wars: Rebels Magazine including issues #1-#35, #37, and #39, along with Star Wars: Rebels Animation Magazine #1-4. The featured comics were written by Jeremy Barlow, Alec Worley, Martin Fisher, with art by Robert Molesworth, Ingo Romling, Eva Widermann, Ruairi Coleman, and Cosmo White. There haven’t been many collections of the 43 different comics from the two magazines, making this trade paperback particularly special. As the Ghost crew searches for the Rebel Alliance, they encounter pirates, creatures, and members of the Empire. The collection releases on July 6 for $29.99.
