From makingstarwars:
One of the most exciting elements about the announcement of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi is the return of Hayden Christensen as Darth Vader. If you’re a Star Wars: The Clone Wars fan like I am, your hopes began to rise a little. Will we see The Clone Wars in live action somehow?
It is pretty obvious they did not get Hayden back unless they planned to show his face somehow. We will get Darth Vader in his bacta tank but we had that in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story with no Hayden. So with a series we can make some pretty educated assumptions as to why they would bring back the Anakin actor to play Darth Vader again.
The first fight with Darth Vader does not go so well for Obi-Wan Kenobi. He has to fallback, regroup, and reorganize his thoughts. Darth Vader is an unstoppable beast in this story and it is not going to be beneficial for Kenobi to just match him in intensity.
Obi-Wan looks inward for the answers to stopping Darth Vader and that is when the flashbacks to Anakin really take center stage. I estimate this to most likely happen around the fifth chapter of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi. I cannot concretely say how many small flashbacks we will get but I can tell you this is the main flashback sequence of the series.
The gist of the sequence is a nineteen-year-old Anakin Skywalkerwith Obi-Wan Kenobi in the Jedi Temple. The word is Hayden Christensen and Ewan McGregor are de-aged in these sequences. This flashback is probably just after Attack of the Clones. The Jedi and Padawan are in a training dojo and Obi-Wan is instructing Anakin on saber techniques.
The duo have their lightsabers out and they are sparring. We see them fighting but as friends. The two trash talk and point out one another’s weaknesses as swordsmen while being flashy and dueling. The sequence is lighthearted and fun. It harkens back to a better time. But in that memory there is crucial data.
Mace Windu:
The last we saw Mace Windu was in Revenge of the Sith after Anakin tells him of Chancellor Palpatine's betrayal – unmasking him as Darth Sidious. Before he can act, Windu is cut down by none other than young Anakin, losing his hand before Palpatine follows up with a devastating torrent of Force lightning, presumably killing him off-screen.
However, the Jedi do have a bit of a history when it comes to losing a hand. After all, Luke Skywalker had his lightsaber-wielding hand cut off during The Empire Strikes Back by Darth Vader – the older, Dark Side aligned Anakin. He really needs to speak to someone about his penchant for dismemberment.
It's far from the first time Jackson's mentioned retruning to the role – he was discussing the idea as far back as 2015, despite his character’s apparent death.
Unfortunately, he hasn’t had any official conversations about it… and admits that the only person he has approached is The Mandalorian and Book of Boba Fett director, Bryce Dallas Howard.
“The only person I've ever said that to about coming back was Bryce Dallas Howard," he said, "I just did a movie with her, and she directs episodes of The Mandalorian. So, I go, 'So, you think you might be able to hook a brother up? I mean, you like me, right?' And she's like 'I love you, you're amazing.' So put me back in, I'm ready. Put me in, coach. I'll learn lightsaber left-handed."
Return of Axw Woves:
Even though the premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi is just over the horizon and The Book of Boba Fett recently wrapped up, The Mandalorian is still the main attraction of the Star Wars brand on Disney+. Star Wars boasts a strong presence on the platform, largely due to the success of the show which debuted in 2019. The titular character, Pedro Pascal's Din Djarin, has seemingly become the core of the franchise's future plans, and Season 3 of the show is currently in production.
The last appearance of the bounty hunter was in the season finale of The Book of Boba Fett, where he was reunited with his companion, Grogu. It is unclear where the pair's next journey together will start, but recent rumors suggested that they will be heading to Mandalore at some point in the upcoming installment.
Season 2 of the series featured the return of Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze, who was first introduced in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Along with her were two other Mandalorians - Sasha Banks' Koska Reeves and Simon Kassianides' Axe Woves.
Bo-Katan and Koska both appeared in the Season 2 finale of The Mandalorian, but Axe was notably missing. However, a recent rumor suggested that he may have been spotted on-set of the show's upcoming season.
