This will be a fun phonics lesson for adults to help you learn American English pronunciation. Today we will do lesson 6 in the Level 5 Adult Phonics series. We will learn the letter pair IR and its unique sound. I will teach you how to correctly say the words Bird, Girl, Shirt, and Skirt in an English accent. We will learn the two letter pair ER. I will teach you how to correctly say the words Singer, Letter, Soccer, and Teacher in an American English accent. We will also learn the letter pair UR. I will teach you how to say Turtle, Purple, Nurse, and Purse with an American English accent. ER is commonly on the end of a word when spelling it. That is always helpful to know. This is why we study them in Phonics. I just want you to start to notice the patterns for spelling. I want you to focus on reading and pronouncing the sounds correctly. That is the most important part. This is how a native English speaker learns to read and speak. And you can too.

Practice speaking like this with me while you are alone. There is no pressure in my lessons, so you can relax and answer to the best of your ability.
