We should see star parallax if we live on a spinning globe with stars millions of miles or "light years" apart. We don't. So being on a level plane with local stars makes a lot more sense. Nobody knows what the stars are but the simple fact that we see the same constellations all the time also means we aren't moving through infinite space.
