Star Wars News | Galactic Starcruiser DELETES Fascist Ad? | Kenobi Updates

After a splashy debut, Disney World’s Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel and immersive fan experience seems to have hit a stumbling block. The chief culprit seems to be the exorbitant cost of the two-night experience, which ranges from $4,809 for two people to $6,000 dollars for four (not including alcohol!). It’s a wildly overpriced experience, made all the more absurd by rising inflation and wealth inequality. And it seems that Disney grossly overestimated the number of folks willing to shell out thousands of dollars for the experience. Galactic Starcruiser tickets aren’t selling, with many vacancies this summer and wide open availability in the fall and winter.

And Disney World’s advertising campaigns leave something to be desired. A recent social media post features two young girls dressed as First Order soldiers who rat out and arrest Chewbacca with some Stormtroopers. The tweet reads, “Strike unlikely alliances in your very own Star Wars story.” Ultimately, Disney decided that advertising family-friendly fascism is maybe not the selling point of the experience.

Well, you have to hand it to Disney. Finally, a big corporation recognizes gender equality in oppressive autocratic regimes. Look out Kylo Ren! These little imperial officers are girlbossing their way to the top and taking no prisoners (except political ones)! There’s a lot to unpack here: why would Star Wars fans want to arrest beloved legacy character Chewbacca? What girls are desperate to get their hands on imperial officer uniforms? How many people approved this ad before it made its way to Twitter?

Naturally, this tweet went viral, inspiring the internet to dunk on this poorly thought out post.

Ten years before the events of Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Darth Vader nearly burned to death on Mustafar. Obi-Wan told Darth Vader he had the high ground and soon after Darth Vader found himself dismembered and being burned alive next to a riverbank of lava. So it is safe to assume for the next ten years Darth Vader was daydreaming about setting Kenobi on fire. That’s revenge, the Sith love it.

Over the last few months on The Making Star Wars Show, I have spoken a bit on how the first encounter between Kenobi and Vader does not go so well for Obi-Wan. I know a bit about what was filmed around the end of this encounter and it seems like Darth Vader gets a bit of revenge on his former master thanks to fire.

At the end of the first encounter, somehow Darth Vader sets Obi-Wan’s arm on fire and he’s burned pretty badly. It sounds like O’Shea Jackson and Princess Leia get Kenobi to a bacta tank and he is then taken to Jabiim to recover in a sinkhole base that was set up during The Clone Wars. It sounds like we follow Kenobi unit he passes out at the end of the fourth chapter. In the 5th chapter he apparently wakes up in a medical facility or something. The base is used by the partisans as a center of operations (and may also explain why they use Clone Trooper blasters).

The order of events has a lot of ambiguity. There are still a few logistical details missing to entirely place this info into a totally coherent and linear storyline. These are the facts for the first encounter as I understand them. I placed these together from speaking to sources from the shoot itself, which is why we have some gaps here and there.

It sounds like Kenobi, Leia, and the Partisans are on a transport ship like Din D’Jarrin used in The Book of Boba Fett. This ship may be going to Jabiim or even Alderaan to return Leia. Leia is not too happy with Ben as their adventure has not exactly gone to plan. When Leia first meets Kenobi she does not trust him (he looks bloody and disheveled). At the midway point of our story, Kenobi’s powers haven’t fully returned yet and he probably just seems to be a bit odd to to the princess. I’m not sure she knows he is a Jedi or if she suspects this at all.

Darth Vader, Reva, Purge Troopers, and Stormtroopers arrive at what I believe was the transport ship set. I have heard a few times that Kenobi has to start this fight without a lightsaber. He is buying time for Leia and the Partisans to get away, a classic Kenobi maneuver. But this time he only has a blaster it sounds like. By the the end of the fight, Kenobi is left burned.

Uncivilized Working Theory: Kenobi gives his lightsabers to Kumail Nanjiani in the second chapter. Kumail Nanjiani gives Kenobi a blaster. Perhaps Kenobi gives up his lightsaber because he has to pretend to be a hired mercenary when he saves Leia from the spice den. After saving Leia, fighting on the rooftops of the spice den, he does not see Kumail Nanjiani’s character until chapter 5 on Jabiim where he gives him his sabers back and Kenobi returns the blaster.
