Sin and Judgement: How The World Sees It

Sin first came into the world in the garden of Eden because of Adam and Eve taking of the fruit
of the tree of knowledge. Most call this original sin. We sin everyday and there is no way to go a
whole day without sinning.
Psalm 51:5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, And in sin my mother conceived me.
Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin,
and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned—
How many of us can claim to love God with all our heart, mind and soul every moment of every
day? None of us, but if we look at Matthew 22: 36-38 Jesus responds to a question from a
lawyer.
Matt 22: 36-38 36 “Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?”
37 Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul,
and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the first and great commandment.
How many of us look at other people and think we are better than them? We tend to act much
like the Pharisees.
Luke 18:9-14
We had a discussion at work once about being in line waiting to get into heaven and seeing
someone, we thought to be a bigger sinner than us getting in heaven before us. Say you’re
standing there waiting and you see Charles Manson or Adolf Hitler already in heaven. The
judgmental side of us as humans would think how did they get in and I am waiting in line???
Much like the Pharisee in Luke 18 we tend to think our sins aren't as bad as the next person.
Let me give you a little analogy here, remember in school when some teachers would grade on
a curve. If the highest test score was 90%, it now becomes the 100% and every other grade
goes up by 10%. But God doesn't rate sin on a curve, sin is sin, lying is the same as murder or
adultery. God doesn't look at someone and say well your just an adulterer but he is a murderer,
come on in adulterer. That is how we see sin. We can never be good enough on our own that is
why Jesus came. I read something while researching and I like how it was said. All sin is the
same on the cross. Jesus died for all sin and all of us.
Romans 6:23 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the [a]gift of God is eternal life in Christ
Jesus our Lord.
I am going to move into judgment because sin and judgment usually go together.
Matthew 7: 1-5
Now the world wants to use Matt 7:1 against Christians telling us don't judge me.
John 7:24
24 Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
When researching judgment I came across this while doing some rsearch, it is from a devotion by Greg
Laurie titled Rightous Judgment.
The world is very quick to state that Christians are not to judge anyone for anything. Even many
Christians will state the same thing.

No where in the Bible does it say you should never judge. It does give many guidelines on how to judge
and when to judge. Judging has to be done with the correct heart and mindset. The Bible has told us to
judge, but we are to judge by what is right. We are not to condemn, and we are not to be judgmental.
Rather, we should make evaluations. We should be discerning. We should express our opinions on right
and wrong, truth and lies, good and evil.
It is very easy to look at a situation and quickly come to a conclusion as to what happened and be
completely wrong in the conclusion.
We do have to make an evaluation as Christians. We have to determine who the people are who don’t
regard the things of God. There’s a place for judging. Judgment is the exercise of critical thinking, and
judgment is needed on occasion.
I will close with this thought I had, the world hates Christians because we say there is only one way to
Heaven and God. Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. The world wants to believe there are other ways.
Now I believe the Bible is the true, authoritative, spoken, living word of God. God created everything and
Jesus was there.
John 1:1-5 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He
was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made
that was made. 4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shines in the
darkness, and the darkness did not [a]comprehend it.
Now if you believe this to be true that God made everything through Jesus, for Jesus, then God makes
the rules. Let's look at John 14 1:6 this is Jesus speaking to the disciples.
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many
[a]mansions; if it were not so, [b]I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be
also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.” 5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know
where You are going, and how can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and
the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
No matter what the world says about Sin, Judgement and Christians, Jesus said this to his Disciples to
comfort them. John 16:33 33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the
world you [f]will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
