FIRST Illinois deer bow hunt. I was looking for 'Double wide' and he showed up!

Wow. We've been on this Illinois farm for 3 1/2 years now and have struggled through a lot of highs and lows as far as QDM land management is concerned. Join me for my VERY FIRST sit in my Banks tower blind on our Illinois farm that is overlooking our 'Center Plot' food plot as the biggest Illinois buck steps out and give me a good look at 25 yards to see if I want to send an arrow and harvest this amazing 3 year old Illinois buck, or if I decide to let him go for another year and hoping he survives another season. This was my very first sit in one of my Banks elevated deer blinds overlooking a late planted fall food plot for deer. It has been a rough year to say the least in that my corn and soybean spring food plots got completely ruined by torrential rains and high heat. I replanted them again, only to have the same results after an insane spring and summer of intense, torrential rains for most of the spring and summer here in Southern Illinois. I then planted my fall food plots starting in early August only to have them literally burned up by a record hot drought in September that left them all but burned and scorched. I then replanted my fall plots, and even over seeded them again for the third time! Needless to say it was a very rough year as far as food plots go. But persistence is the key! I kept diligent and replanted the fall plots twice, and then over seeded them a third time! After the record high heat and drought of September 2019, we started getting some rain around the last part of October! And speaking of persistence, I'd like to give a shout out to Bill Winke, from Midwest Whitetails, as I have been following Bill for many, many years and I enjoy how he lays out his land management visions and projects through his YouTube channel at: https://youtu.be/cxp_yCSmO-Q Even though the rain seemed like too little, too late, the fall food plot blend that I planted started taking rood and coming up, even though it was kind of sparsely. So, after the replanted over and over again to try to beat the intense weather, join me for my first Illinois deer hunt as I use my most recent information (MRI) that I had that the biggest, and most dominate buck liked one of my late planted food plots and was hitting it just before sunset recently. And sure enough, even though I had just trimmed all of the shooting lanes just 48 hours before with my tractor and gas operated Stihl pole saw, the buck came out just like the trail camera had documented, right on que, well before sunset, right in front of me at 25 yards! Now it was my turn to make a quick field assessment to see it this buck was worthy of sending an arrow down range or if I should in fact give him a pass and hope that he survives until next year!
