How to choose garlic for planting. The Great Garlic Experiment - The Homestead #14

Episode 14 of The Homestead. I start the day early and catch one of the most amazing sunrises of my life (there are few to compare it to) We then get to work on the kitchen, stripping old stick on wallpaper stuff and cleaning the cabinets. Shutting down the kitchen to paint it is going to be tough and I talk about the challenges of that how we are going to solve then with ice cream Our 1988 Toyota motorhome that was our home for 9 months comes back to the property from an Ontario safety and I talk about the details of what kind of work it needed. we begin covering imperfections and cracks in the kitchen walls with drywall compound. this is a technique that we used fairly effectively for even covering wood paneling walls in the living room, and for a lot of restoration on the walls in the main bedroom. I then start showing how to grow garlic from store bought heads of garlic. I break it down into useable cloves to start this year's garlic patch in the garden, and I count how many cloves I have to plant. I count them so that I can start designing the flipped sod beds that I have dedicated to garden on the homestead. the plan is to do a big experiment of store bought vs local garlic cloves, and different spacing between plants, from 5 inches to 8 inches apart. you will have to stick around to see how the experiment goes! hit subscribe and the like button. we release new episodes very Monday Wednesday and Friday.
