U.S. census adds citizenship, Trump loses to public opinion and finally gives up

U.S. President Donald Trump originally planned to add a citizenship question to next year's census, but even the Supreme Court rejected the proposal due to mounting opposition. Trump eventually announced he would drop the additional questions, but he ordered all federal agencies to provide the Commerce Department with data on citizens and non-citizens.
