charcoal is a super useful additive to your garden soil, and it can be easy to make, I use a 4 section system in a large fire pit. one corner holds the fire, when it has burnt a bit I push that over to the other corner, then i pull the charcoal that is under it out, to another corner, then i pour some water on that, and move it to the last corner which is all the stored charcoal, then i can scoop that up and activate it by letting it sit in compost tea.
