146. A TRANSGENDER SURGEON'S POINT OF VIEW

No, the surgeon has not undergone TG surgery. He performs TG surgery.

Here, my Seattle colleague Tony Mangubat, MD, tells his story about how he became a cosmetic surgeon for the worldwide TG community. As you will see, he is sympathetic and respectful towards his patients. Fully half of what he does is “top” surgery, which is breast removal for a F to M (female to male) transition. He also describes other types of masculinizing procedures he performs to improve his patients’ desired appearances. Tony also schools me on accepted nomenclature and pronouns for TG people. It is different for those who end up male, female, or somewhere in between.

For more about this work, Dr. Mangubat’s TickTock channel is HERE, his website is HERE, and “Top surgeon” links are HERE and HERE. There are testimonial videos and before/after photos.

Disclosure: Tony is an old friend (I’m the young friend, ha). I didn't inject opinions of my own into this interview. If you want to know what I think—and my wife says very few people are interested—you can find out more in my Substack archives.
