‘Sinister’: Facebook fact-checks leading economist after recession post

James Morrow says Facebook’s fact-checking of an economist who disputed US President Joe Biden’s claims about a recession was “sinister”.
Dr. Phillip Magness, an economist with the American Institute for Economic Research, made a post on Facebook saying the United States had entered a recession – which the social media giant promptly labelled as ‘partly false’.
Mr Morrow said the US was in a recession “by the definition of a recession used by just about everybody since forever – which is two consecutive quarters of economic decline”.
