11-11-19 Join me for an evening bow hunting sit in my favorite old wood tower blind that is located right behind our home on our Southern Illinois farm. Recently I had an amazing encounter with a big buck, so I am putting some more time in this stand with the hopes of seeing that one again. The temps were dropping like a rock, raining, then sleeting, then snowing by the end of the sit. My neighbor has standing soybeans still and you know what that means when the weather gets cold! Big Bucks, and calling all deer! At least I was able to get some great footage of a big Illinois buck and smaller one to boot as the smaller buck started working in on the buck's does, it almost got ugly. It was my plan this year to have soybeans and corn, but mother nature just would not allow it! We planted about 8 acres of beans and corn this year and got pummeled with torrential rains all spring and summer which destroyed the crops. Heck even the green fall food plots I had to replant several times because we went from torrential rains to a month-plus long drought and record heat for September! But it was nice to see a shooter buck, a mature buck, so close to my spot! We bought this property with the help of Justin Mason, from Whitetail properties, and after a few years of QDM, things are really beginning to improve!
