Japan's Defeat Sealed Taiwan's Fate

China's rise to become the dominant power in east Asia has been inevitable since the dismemberment and emasculation of Japan in 1945. The US has tried to fill the vacuum left by Japan in Asia, but ultimately Asia will be ruled by an Asian power. Westerners simply don't have the resources or logistic capabilities to maintain total domination over the Pacific.
