In this a video in the Apologetics Through Books series we will be talking about 30 AD, Ted Dekker. In this series we will review and talk about how some of the most popular books can open doors in apologetic. This month is 30 AD, Ted Dekker.

What is this Book: The year is 30 A.D., during the first year of Jesus of Nazareth’s three-year ministry.
The story opens in the Arabian desert with Maviah, the daughter of one of the most powerful Bedouin sheikhs in the region.
Maviah’s position as the sheikh’s daughter does not guarantee her privileges. Quite the opposite. She is a woman, a step above livestock in their eyes. Her mother was from an outcast Bedu tribe. And Maviah also bore a son outside of marriage while a slave in Egypt.
Three strikes against her until the day her father needed her the most, the day when an enemy tribe rode into town, took over, maimed her father, and killed her infant son.
Her father puts her on a desperate quest for Roman aid. She sets on her journey with the help of two of her father’s best warriors—Saba, who speaks more with his sword than his voice, and Judah, a Jew who comes from a tribe that can read the stars.
Their journey takes them along the edge of survival, parched sands of a desert intent on their deaths and ruled by an enemy tribe. Arriving in Israel will give them only water but no guarantee of an audience with Rome. There Maviah must secure an unlikely alliance with King Herod of the Jews.

Maviah’s path leads her unexpectedly to another man. An enigmatic teacher who speaks of a way in this life which offers greater power than any kingdom. His name is Yeshua, and his words turn everything on its head. Though following him may present even greater danger, his path may be the only way for Maviah to save her people—and herself.
