Chicago’s Erica Switzer is “Your bougie jet-setting auntie who twerks to NPR.” A divorce and failed rebound in Shanghai, China led to her “Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” moment in July 2017. Co-founder of Shanghai’s Blackout Comedy and founder of Hei Now Comedy, China's premier Black comedy crew, Erica became the first Black comedian to perform in Mongolia at the inaugural Silk Road International Comedy Festival in July 2019. She has featured for The Comedy Cellar's Simeon Goodson, Laugh Factory's Mateen Stewart, and America's Got Talent's Justin Rivera. A 2020 Flappers Comedy Club Soup-or-Bowl winner, festival appearances include the World Series of Comedy, Laugh Riot Grrrl Festival, and Burbank Comedy Festival's Best of Fest. She appeared in Facebook x Variety’s Room for Discussion: Mentorship & Black Women in Comedy February with Michelle Buteau, Sam Jay, and London Hughes. Her 2022 festival appearances include Chicago's World Comedy Expo, NYC’s Black Women in Comedy Laff Fest, and Cleveland’s Sixth City Comedy Festival. She performs regularly at Laugh Factory and The Lincoln Lodge Chicago and produces comedy shows in Chicago’s south suburbs.
When Erica’s not on stage, she's busy roasting anyone who calls her their “spirit animal,” keeping her day job from knowing her blood type is Sativa, and finessing old dudes outta pensions.
