Bhagavad gita is the most authorized scriptures in Vedic literature. It is called apaurusheya, without defects. It is the summary study of the Vedanta-sutra. Vedanta-sutra is the cream of the Vedas and Krishna says in the Bhagavad gita, chapter 15, text 15: "By all the Vedas I am to be known, indeed I am the compiler of the Vedanta and I am the Knower of the Vedas."

In Kali Yuga we don't live very long as in the previous ages. Therefore the Bhagavad Gita is essential for us. One can only understand Bhagavad-gita if one is submissive. But if you think you are a great scholar or philosopher and know more than Krishna there is no possibility of you understanding this great literature.
