But if you are intending to drive somewhere start things off the right way.

1. Park as close to the road as possible so you have the least amount to shovel to get out of the drive way.
2. Leave your windshield wipers up.. so that they don't freeze to the windshield (be sure to put them down before you start driving)
3. Periodically remove the accumulation of snow off your windshield windows and mirrors (and license plate if you are in a state where police drive in the winter)
4. Get a religious or good luck rear view mirror avatar to insure you can accurately gauge road conditions based on how badly they want to get out of the vehicle.
