Essentials for life? Food, water and GUNS!!

Are guns really necessary for life? If food security and clean water security are essentials so should guns be. The wild west was conquered with guns and now the wild southern border has to be secured with guns but they are only tools and are essential to security and life because the cartels and other aggressors on the southern border have them, why shouldn't we?
