China launches terrestrial ecosystem carbon monitoring satellite

China has successfully launched a terrestrial ecosystem carbon monitoring satellite and two others from the Taiyuan Launch Center in Shanxi province. The orbiting equipment is mainly used for terrestrial ecology and resource monitoring, as well as to survey major national ecological projects.
