This video breaks down Tesla Cybertruck and the Mainstream Media's reaction to it. How does media coverage shape public perception of products?

Elon Musk recently announced the Cybertruck.

The truck is FASTER (69 mph in 3 seconds) and STRONGER (tows more than 14K pounds, 3.5K payload, lasts 750,000 miles, safest on the road) than any other truck on the market.

It’s also electric with a 250–500 miles range + a solar-powered roof!

It has a ton of space…

And it’s bullet-proof.

I asked my business students how much they thought it costs…

“3 million!”

“1 million!”

“150K!”

“5 million!”

“500K!”

They gasped when I told them it was only $40K.

I then informed them that I expect everyone to chip in and buy Mr. Galli one for Christmas.

The Cybertruck should be hailed as a giant technological leap forward for mankind.

One day we may look back and see the Cybertruck as the equivalent of Steve Jobs announcing the iPhone.

But what has been the mainstream media’s response?

The media’s response is a lesson in “shallow journalism.”

This is where the media grabs a peculiar fact or two and then creates a story around it without any real investigative reporting.

The mainstream media can literally make the average person believe that the strongest, fastest, most electric, and inexpensive pickup-truck in human history is a piece of feces because the armored glass shattered and the vehicle’s edges are angular.

“Shallow journalism” focuses on:

Appearance over performance.
Show over substance.
Such news coverage has real-world consequences because had the mainstream media focused on performance than Tesla stock prices would have gone up, but because they focused on the appearance Tesla stock prices went down by 6%.

And don’t get me wrong, a vehicle’s appearance is important to consumers, but the media has put the cart before the horsepower.

This should make us ponder: what other narratives has the media manufactured by handpicking a few facts?

Open your eyes, people!

The future is here.

And we just might miss it, if we focus on mainstream news.
