Wild Camping or Campground?How to find summer camping without making reservations months in advance.

We had found refuge from the heatwave on the coast of Oregon and had found a wonderful place to stay for a couple of days.

So, after some much-needed playtime with the dogs and some spectacular walks on the beach, we decided to take a day to explore the wild and spectacular Cape Perpetua.

As much as we enjoy dispersed camping off the beaten path, we have found that in some places it’s just easier to stay in a campground. But how do you do that in the summer when many campgrounds require reservations up to a year in advance?

We’ll share our experience finding campsites during the busy summer months in some of the most popular summer destinations.
