There's something about this morning passage of scripture, that deeply spoke to my heart, and I had to share some things that God has shown me about this issue with all of you tonight. In particular, I've had to ask the Lord to give me discernment in regards to what is really genuine life-giving correction, versus outright gaslighting, manipulation and abuse of God's word to try to control me, and the Lord is still helping me with that today. I think that’s why I was especially challenged and encouraged by the questions from this morning's devotional, and I'd like to share those questions with you tonight. Please read these questions very carefully, and ask God to speak to your heart through them.

How do you handle constructive criticism?

What does humility look like?

I think the ultimate example in humility, is none other than Christ Jesus!

I'm gonna be very honest with all of you, and tell you that I believe that passages about correction and rebuke have been used to manipulate, abuse, gaslight, and control Christians for good long time, and it needs to stop. While I feel it very important to accept loving, Christ like, and godly instruction and correction from fellow believers, with humility, I also believe that we need to have discernment concerning this “correction”. Personally, I think the ultimate example in humility, is none other than Christ Jesus! However, we need discernment when it comes to the “correction” that we are given, because in many instances it's not correction, but control, manipulation, and gaslighting. What I'd like to do right now, is share some thoughts that God put on my heart about this issue through this vlog tonight and I pray that you listen. Come and join me in this vlog, and learn what true godly, compassionate, loving, and life-giving correction is! 😊

So, as I close this post with all of you tonight, I want to challenge you, to carefully examine the “advice”, “correction” and any other “helpful things” that others give you, through the lens of God’s Word, and act on what HE tells you to do. I also challenge you to seek the Lord in how you approach someone who needs a word of loving, life giving correction, and strive to speak the truth with Christ like compassion and love. Above all, I encourage those who are being given genuine, godly, lifegiving correction, to not be afraid to accept it. Simply put ask God to help you not only give correction, but to receive it with humility.
