Feeling Isolated on the Road | Retiring Early and Traveling Off-Grid in our Ram SHORT-BODY VAN

On our travels, we tend to avoid campgrounds and cities - rather we seek out-of-the way places where we can explore nature, enjoy solitude, and allow the dogs to play.

But, so far on this journey through Mexico, we have not seen other overlands on the road or in the campgrounds. And we’ve realized how much we miss interacting with other travelers.

The campground outside of Durango turned out to be an oasis. Not only did we have a safe and comfortable place to camp with swimming and soaking pools, but we met a young couple from Costa Rica.

They have been traveling for over two years in their adorable yellow VW van. We hit it off with Jhonny, Katthy and their kitty, Balam, sharing where we’ve traveled and exchanging information about our favorite places. Spending time with this delightful couple reminded us of how much we’d missed building these kinds of relationships on the road.
